about

Jake Brown, a 24-year-old singer/songwriter from the sprawling suburbs of Birmingham, Alabama, has chosen to follow the well-trodden path towards musical stardom in the vast expanse of popular music. For the 6’4” blond-haired, blue-eyed Brown, however, the decision to pursue a career in music entertainment was one that seemed entwined in his very being. After learning to play guitar as a sophomore in high school, Jake quickly discovered his true calling in life after joining Destry, an alt-rock band with which he rose to the front as lead singer. Destry enjoyed local successes in the rich Birmingham music scene, and Brown soon found himself listening to his own song on 107.7 The X, a prominent rock station in Birmingham.

The transition from high school to college saw Brown’s musical journey take a different path, as he soon discovered his distinctive sound as a singer/songwriter with a new outlook on his musical direction. Jake was able to see the first signs of success after winning an Auburn University-wide songwriting contest in the spring of his senior year. Jake also developed a considerable local fan base of young adults captivated by his poetic lyrical delivery and the catchiness of his emotionally driven pop melodies.

After graduating from Auburn in the fall of 2006, Jake decided to heed the advice of his peers and follow his dreams in the Music City--Nashville, Tennessee. It is here that Jake now resides, writing daily and continuously developing his already strong repertoire of powerful adult contemporary songs. While many have compared Jake’s storytelling ability to classic singer/songwriters like Jackson Browne and his melodic draw to an updated version of Matchbox 20’s breakout album Yourself or Someone like You, most insist he has a truly unique sound all his own. From the narrative heartache of songs like Black Dresses and Champagne to the contemporary edge of Mystery, Jake’s allure lies in his captivating vocals as a vehicle for songs of heartache, hope, fairy tale conclusions, and real world consequences.
